French bronze cage chandelier. C1880s.

This exquisite heavy bronze chandelier has a lovely patina dark frame, the top coronet is a row of protruding leaves each holding a large French slab drop, the next level of crystals is a row of unusual pretty crystals held by protruding leaves, the central body is a mass of decorative bronze leaf arms issuing into a moulded central boss. The arms each hold a bronze bobeche drip pan which are delicately decorated with small leaves along with a candle holder with a leaf design. The chandelier is heavily dressed with good quality wonderful crystals of different designs, French slab drops, deco crystals, tear drops, unusual cut crystals and is finished off with a faceted ball. A truly wonderful chandelier.
